When Jesus Asked a Dumb Question...
Okay, it wasn’t dumb, but honestly, it could have seemed as if it was.
In John 5, Jesus visited the Pool of Bethesda where whomever first stepped into the water after an angel stirred it up, got physically healed. In verses 5 and 6, Jesus addressed just one of the many waiting,
“Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, ‘Do you want to be made well?’”
Thirty-eight years, waiting every day, and Jesus asks him if he wants to be healed!
Jesus knew that many people want to be healed. But the real question is, do they really want to be healed? or, said differently, are you willing to do what you need to do to be healed?
It’s like people who are desperate to lose weight but don’t pay the price it takes to lose it.
So, the question remains: Do you have a need? Are you willing to submit and do what you need to do for God to meet that need?
